Indian flag @ NYSE

with 2 comments

My apartment is situated on 45th Wall Street, very near or next to New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). I daily walk till WTC Path station to take the PATH train to NJ Office. Today, 23rd June 2008, I saw this unusual siting while walking towards the WTC station. I saw the Indian flag hoisted on NYSE. That’s really some thing which excited me.

I thought I will somehow find out why Indian flag has been hoisted today @ NYSE but I could not find anything. But I’m proud that India is making it’s mark Internationally.

My first fly to NY, USA

with one comment

Yes, I’m in NY now for 4 weeks on a business trip – infact training. I’ve come Emirates flight and my experience was not that good.

As mentioned in BIA experience blog I’ve taken the Emirates flight from BIA airport. This time the flight was scheduled to depart at 0415 hrs IST. I started home at 0045 hrs IST and reached the airport way too early than 3 hr advance for check-in. I infact reached airport 013o0 hrs IST I think. This is where my journey to NY started and that too with a sour experience. The moment I entered the airport I saw a huge crowed lined up towards very few check-in counters. First I thought it was baggage security scanning and all but later I realised this lining was for Emirates check-in. I was surprised to see those many people, may be around 200 odd people, queued up to get the Emirates boarding pass. Left with no other choice I too had to join the queue. By the time my turn came it was 1 hr passed, i.e., it was 0230 hrs IST. Without wasting much time I thought I better get thro security scanning done and start browsing in the waiting lounge, a nice way to timepass for me. Before I could clear the security check I had to lighten my pockets by Rs. 1070. This is the User Development fee every International bound passenger has to shell out. Once I got thro the security check while walking towards the waiting lounge I met this awesome guy named Nageesh who’s basically from Mysore and working in Dubai. I just happened to talk this person while walking towards the waiting area and this small conversation turned into Read the rest of this entry »

Solution to Robot Problem

leave a comment »

As I’ve described in my previous post that the first puzzle is more kinda directed graph traversing problem, indeed I tried that approach to solve the problem.

Well, I should admit that I’m not a genius to have figured the method at the first glance but I’ve spent enough time trying few brute force methods to arrive at the solution. After trying few methods to solve the problem I stumbled on this approach which actually solved the problem. Read the rest of this entry »

Bangalore International Airport…

with 4 comments

Yippee… Finally I’m here in Bangalore International Airport… Isn’t that amazing to be here soooo soon after it’s inauguration

Well, you may be wondering how I’m blogging right from this airport and what I’m doing here… Yes you guessed it correct… I’m taking a flight from here and the second part being it’s to Chennai – TN, India… And the most import stuff is they have this WiFi network free for all the passengers traveling from here… Isn’t that great, definitely huh????

How do you access this network is quite simple. All you do is enable your Wireless network access on your laptop and just connect to “Passenger Free Internet”, you will then be prompted to send an SMS to 56677 with text “WIFI BAIL”. That’s it… you are connect now… happy browsing… There’s one caveat, this connection will last only 1 hr ;( – Never mind, I think you can send another SMS and get connected (I’ve tried this and it works too – that’s a bonanza).

To give you some insight on this airport internals Read the rest of this entry »
