Unplanned but memorable
Sometimes you plan certain events but they won’t give you much excitement or even may turn sour. Like planned event unplanned events too may turn exciting, refreshing and even most memorable sometimes. One such memorable and refreshing event was International Friendship Day celebrations I’d with my small group of friends. And luck strikes again on the blissful day ‘ಕನ್ನಡ ರಾಜ್ಯೋತ್ಸವ ದಿನ’ (Nov 1 – Kannada Rajyothsava day). Nov 1st marks the beginning of ‘Kannada Rajyothsava’ and extends throughout the November month and is celebrated with much fervor and liveliness throughout Karnataka.
We didn’t had any special plans for the day but since it happened to be weekend we just planned for a movie. Again Nitin was our event-manager; he was responsible for deciding the Movie and a nearby Threate and then convey the same to everyone in the group. Since it was ‘Kannada Rajyothsava’ too nobody in the group were sure whether theatres were screening non-kannada movies. Nitin took the initiative to call the theatre and find out whether Hindi movies were played on the day. Since nobody at the theatre didn’t answer his phone call he went to sleep without informing anyone – Thanks to his acuteness
And we were in illusion that he was working out the plan
Rajesh our busy body for the month (he’s getting married this 14th. You know how life will be busy during this transition period) called up to ask about the plan and was too frustrated cos our event-manager didn’t answer is phone calls
I too started calling him up and luckily his wife (Shilpi) picked my call. Gods grace things started ticking again from where they abruptly halted after his sleepy break :-0
He outlined a simple plan: Movie – Golmaal Returns, Theatre – Sagar in majestic area and Timing – 7:30 PM show. Everyone in the group were informed about the plan and had been asked to convene at the theatre at 6 PM sharp and the one who will reach there will book the tickets – simple, brilliant and elegant. I was in Rajajinagar @ 5:45 PM and eating Bhel Puri, Masala Puri
And I was not far away from the theatre location to reach the venue late.
At 6:30 PM Veeresh, Nitin & Shilpi, and I met at the theatre premises and were stunned to see that booking counters were closed with signboard reading ‘House FULL’
We were left with only one option of buying tickets in black at double the original price. With my uneasiness with ticket pricing and other theatres showing the same movie we were exploring Urvasi theatre option near Lalbagh and by then Rajesh, Vijay too reached the venue and we decide to head to Urvasi theatre for 9:45 PM show and dinner at a nearby Restuarant.
After wasting lot of time in majestic area at 8:00 PM we all reached Urvashi theatre and were disappointed to see the last show was for Fashion but not Golmaal Returns. We all, except Rajesh, were desperate to watch a movie after making all the fuss at Sagar theatre and soon convinced Rajesh to stay back for the movie and immediately booked the tickets before somebody changed their mind. Step 2 sprouted due to ample time to waste – dinner in MTR; a Kannada ethnic style Restaurant on Lalbagh Road
What else you can except beyond this, on ‘Kannada Rajyothsava’ day a dinner at MTR followed by a movie. Unexpectedly everything was going remarkably well but the ending wasn’t so fascinating – Fashion movie turned out the show-stopper (term picked up from the same movie). I think except me and Rajesh liked the movie. Post movie session we wished each other goodbye and departed from the theatre premises at 1 PM that too in a chilling night.
ಸಮಸ್ತ ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರಿಗೆ ಕನ್ನಡ ರಾಜ್ಯೋತ್ಸವ ಶುಭಾಶಯಗಳು (Happy Kannada Rajyothsava)

@Richa,

The ROCK ON band is now scattered, we need the chosen one to put it back again in one piece…
